To promote school spirit and help build a sense of community, the Lugoff-Elgin High School marketing class will host a spring cookout in the school stadium April 28.

The event, which will begin at 6 p.m., will offer hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue and drinks. Festivities will range from a mechanical bull to karaoke. There will also be a movie shown by the student council around 8 p.m.

Tickets to the spring cookout will be sold in advance for $7 and at the gate for $10. Children age 2 and under will be admitted free.

“This should be an exciting event for all people of the community” said Meredith Hastings, president of the marketing class press release division.

“I think the cookout will be a great thing to boost school and community spirit,” added supervisor Jonathan Hinely.
Youngsters will enjoy a bouncy house and the opportunity for their parents to sign up for a dunking booth. Other activities include “minute to win it”-type games and sports competitions. Prizes will be given to winners.
